Greetings from a hot and humid north India. Summer is showing a real resistance to go as humidity levels hover around the 95 to 100 % mark. It is “ terribly “ humid and one wonders when it’s going to come to an end. Life is unbearable and most uncomfortable for most of the time. It’s best to remain indoors and to venture out only after sunset. Our Lord’s words “ Be wise as serpents …” takes on a new perspective. Anyway, we thank God that every day of the year is not hot, humid and sticky. In recent weeks our village and the surrounding villages has been rocked by a gang going on a killing spree. Life has become dangerous in an otherwise peaceful environment. This gang is not bent on stealing but killing. It’s a very strange phenomenon. There is a spirit of death at work and we have mobilized specific prayer to counter it. Please pray for our safety and security in the face of this new threat to life. The men ( and some women ) of our village have organized night patrols and this is giving us some protection.
In addition to this there is a strong spirit of suicide that prevails in our village. In the past one year , 7 suicides have been recorded. We are seeing heads of households and bread winners taking their own lives – thus leaving families to fend for themselves – a very sad situation. We are coming to realize that the Lord has placed us in this village "for such a time as this." We are planning a prayer walk soon to break the spirit of suicide in the name of Jesus. Please pray with us as we grapple with these real issues in the real world of suicide. Some time ago we went into many homes in our village and we handed the Word of God ( Hindi Bibles ) to many. Pray that the Word of the Lord will come alive in the hearts of the people. Our weekly prayer meeting in our home is also an important factor in terms of the situation in our village. We have a visible presence and a powerful prayer movement is in the making. Prayer, we believe can change the course of history. We have a good core group of people interceding and praying to God for His intervention. This is very encouraging. Thank you for praying for the village where we are seeking to plant the Gospel. This is slow, pain staking work. The Lord continues to place people along our path way and we see this as an opportunity to build friendships and relationships. We have our ups and downs in this village – but we are pressing on. Our goal is to see the Kingdom of God come in the hearts of men and women. Maybe one day the Lord will reward us with a NT church as He works the work of salvation in the lives of the people here. At this stage we do not have a large congregation – but we have a ministry where lives are being impacted and people are being exposed to a different way of life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Thank you for your prayers and your fellowship in the Gospel. May our Lord Jesus be glorified as you continue to serve Him. And may He bless you with all that you need for your life, for your family, for your work and for your ministry. Until next time – Jai Masihki ( Praise the Lord ) Keep looking up !!! With warmest Christian greetings Ed & Vivienne Moses
