Missions and Evangelism

Back To Church Sunday – 1 September:

• Do continue to pray for those that you invited to church for that day. Ask the Lord to work in their lives. Invite them again.

Outreach

• Rob Swan will be attending the annual Earthdance week end. This takes place next week end.

Missionaries:

• Richard and Geraldine Akers are in Mozambique again taking the gospel to the Zionist churches there. They write asking for prayer:
  “There will be four of us on this trip, the two of us and Pastor Zachariah and Nathan Reyneke, a young man joining us for this trip by way of 3-D Outreach.  North of the Save River it is sometimes required that we join a military convoy as there has been some 'rebel activity' - pray that we won't encounter any 'rebels'! Please pray for our vehicle - it's fixed, and we believe 'ready to go', but it's always a concern that it will survive all the roads! Pray that we might well meet 'men of peace' and that the meetings we have are pre-planned by the Holy Spirit. Please pray for our family as they see us set out on another cross-border trip. We'd really appreciate it in the next two weeks: as you 'pause', won't you 'PRAY' !”

Church People and Ministries

People

• Congratulations to Peter Landry and Megan Johnson on their engagement. As we rejoice with them, let's also pray for them as they begin to plan for a wedding and prepare themselves for a life together.
• Emily Joubert’s is leaving [on Friday night] for the UK again to visit her father and mother. Her father's condition is deteriorating fast, and we pray that the Lord will be their comfort and strength.
• Matt Lennox is still looking for a job. He is a helicopter pilot.

Ministry

• The brown money collection has so far raised R740. This will be used to buy bibles for the children’s wing of Groote Schuur Hospital.
• Our monthly prayer supper last Tuesday was a moving experience as we focussed our attention and prayers in God’s desire for peace. We prayed for Syria, Egypt, the DRC in particular. In many of the Middle Eastern countries it is Christian people and their churches that are targeted. Please continue to pray for Christian people in these areas and for God’s grace to triumph in places filled with hatred and war.
• This Tuesday evening at 7.30pm is our Church's Annual General Meeting. A large portion of the time will be given to planning our outreach for next year.
• Pray as we seek a replacement for Joey Prince for next year. Joey is leaving to further his theological studies in the USA in 2014.
  

Our Societal Needs

Pray for the matriculants who have been writing their mock exams. From our church, these include Christopher Teale and Sheraya Erickson.

Sunday Services - 15 September

9.30am “The power of what we say” Proverbs 18:21 Peter Smallbones is the preacher.
6.00pm “Meeting Jesus – I am the bread of life!” – Peter Landry challenges us to respond to Jesus as the food that we all need. This series will be looking at who Jesus is and what this means for us as His disciples.
