Weekly Prayer Letter

And he said to all, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.' - Luke 9:23 

The Baptist Union Annual assembly begins today at the Strandfontein Baptist Church. I do encourage you to attend some of the meetings and get a feel for what God is doing in various parts of our country. I do encourage you to attend any of the sessions but especially the evening meetings where the worship will inspire you and the messages enrich you.

• Friday 7.00pm:      Induction of Rev Nelson Abraham as president. His message will introduce his Assembly theme – “God’s mission, Our compassion.”
• Saturday 6.45pm: Worship and the guest preacher Rev Michael Olwakoi
• Sunday 5.30pm      Worship and Rev Michael Olwakoi
• Sunday 7.30pm      Special youth service
• Monday 6.00pm    Worship and Rev Michael Olwakoi

The full program is on the notice board in the foyer.  We will close our evening service at CBC so we can all attend the 2 meetings at Strandfontein on Sunday 5th Oct.

Missions

• Rooiwal crèche will be opening on the 12th October. This has been long awaited and finally it is happening. Anyone who would like to is invited to go up and attend the official opening.
  Continue to pray for the Christian congregations and missionaries living in the areas where ISIS is carrying out there atrocious acts of violence. Pray for peace, for the defeat of this radical organisation and for the gospel to be accepted by many people.

CBC Family

When you pray for our church family, why not contact them – either phone call, sms, email etc. – and let them know that they have been in your thoughts and prayers. This will be a great encouragement to all.

• Dave and Val Brasler arrived in the UK on Wednesday morning to be with their daughter Wendy while she and her husband await the birth of their first child.
• The following are writing mock matric exams Zac Glanville, Jonathan Chuter, Nathan Parker, Matthew Faber, Aidan Schoombie, Brogan Poulton.
• Do be in prayer for Peter and Megan as they consider where God is leading them next year.
• Pray for CBC family who are overseas – Margaret Grant (UK) Thelma Ahier (China)

CBC Ministries

• We thank the Lord for the market last Sunday. Not only did we raise R4500 but also their where quite a few neighbours who came through that we could meet and talk to.
•  The spiritual gifts workshop was a blessing to all who attended.
• The Sunday morning messages are now being uploaded to our website. So if you missed the service go here. 

Denominational

Do Pray for the incoming President of the Baptist Union, Rev Nelson Abraham as he leads this Assembly. Pray also for all the times of spiritual input as well as the business side of the Assembly.

Our Community

Pray for all the children now on holiday. Pray for families as they travel.

Sunday 5 October

• 9.30 am.  “Gods great Invitations – the invitation to commit to Christ” Peter Smallbones will be the preacher with the sermon based on Luke 9:23
• 6.00pm. No service at CBC rather we will be at the Strandfontein Baptist to share in the Assembly service. The meetings start at 5.30 and 7.30pm.
