Weekly Prayer Letter

Here is the great mystery of our religion: Christ came as a human. The Spirit proved that he pleased God, and he was seen by angels. Christ was preached to the nations. People in this world put their faith in him, and he was taken up to glory. - 1 Timothy 3:16

Claremont Back to Church Sunday is next week! All the Christian churches in Claremont are inviting the residents of Claremont to attend their neighbourhood church on that Sunday. Please be in prayer for this day and for those whom you can invite. You can check out the facebook page here.

Missions

• Ed and Vivienne Moses are in SA for rest and meeting supporters. They were due to be with us on Sunday but unfortunately due to a mis-understanding, they cannot be with us but will be soon! Do pray for them.
• Richard Akers writes: "Last weekend was  one of the more 'special' weekends of the year. It was our annuall 'ZEBS TEACHERS MEETING'. ZEMA's monthly 'formal' classes for teaching AmaZioni Church leaders began in 1996 with 1 teacher and 12 students. Now we have just under 40 teachers, 66 venues and about 2300 Church leaders attending each month. We marvel at what God has done !"

CBC Family

When you pray for our church family, why not contact them – either phone call, sms, email etc – and let them know that they have been in your thoughts and prayers. This will be a great encouragement to all.

• Robert Dau is back in hospital with inflamed kidneys which is causing much discomfort.
• Emelia Ellapen’s father is in hospital again. Emelia leaves today for Durban to visit again.
• Elaine Holmes is ill with the flu.
• Thelma Ayers will be leaving for Shanghai in China on Tuesday. She has finally retired for good and has very close friends there. She asks us to pray for her as she hopes to be a Christian witness to these people but she is not allowed to actively speak of her faith.
• Eugene Nel began his chemo therapy this morning. Please pray that the side affects will be small and the treatment effective.
• Ursula Munnik asks for prayer. She is looking for alternate accommodation. She needs a 1/ 2  bedroom flat. If you hear of anything please contact her on 0839554173.
• Do be in prayer for Peter and Megan as they consider where God is leading them next year.
• Pray for CBC family who are overseas –. Ra Lennox (UK), Michael Fourie (Mediterranean)

CBC Ministries

• The Back to Church Sunday is on the 7th September. Please be in prayer for this – particularly for those whom you will be inviting. Pray that Claremont will respond to this call to get back to church. Pray for all the participating churches – especially as they prepare for their special services. Pray for the Rosmead school that not only will they benefit from the money raised but also that the staff and learners may know that Jesus cares for them and turn to Him.
• The church website is once again being kept up to date – do have a look at it and let me have your comments on it.
• We do need someone to help Sheila and Brenda on the food distribution poverty relief ministry.

Denominational

Please pray for the up coming Baptist Assembly to be held in Strandfontein in October.

Our Community

• Pray for Uturn, the Night Shelter and all those who work with the street people.
  
• Continue to pray for the Ebola crisis in Africa – for the victims and their loved ones. Pray that this disease will  not spread further.

Sunday 31 August

• 9.30 am. “Priorities from Timothy – Our Gospel is great!” Peter Smallbones will be preaching from 1 Timothy 3:16
• 6.00pm. This service will be a special prayer service for the Back to Church Day. Peter Landry  will be leading this.
