Weekly Prayer Letter

For the love of money is a source of all kinds of evil. Some have been so eager to have it that they have wandered away from the faith and have broken their hearts with many sorrows.  But you, man of God, avoid all these things. Strive for righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness. - 1Timothy 6:10,11 

Claremont Back to Church Sunday is 7th September! All the Christian churches in Claremont are inviting the residents of Claremont to attend their neighbourhood church on that Sunday. Please be in prayer for this day and for those whom you can invite. You can check out the Facebook page for more details.

Missions

• The Bible Society sent this prayer request:

Pray for Christians in Iraq: The militant group, IS (formerly ISIS), has forced thousands of Iraqi Christians to flee for their lives. The Bible Society team in Iraq, which is helping the refugees, says the need for support is immense. Their request is that Christians must please pray seriously that people around the world are moved to send aid for these Christians fleeing to Erbil in Kurdistan, for Kurdistan – that people continue to live together in peace, and that they have compassion on the refugees, and for our Bible Society team, working to bring help and hope to these traumatised people.

• Richard and Geraldine Akers want "to say a big THANK YOU to ALL who have been praying for Geraldine. We truly have been blessed by this." Read their latest prayer letter here.
• Sydney Davis and her team are now home. Sydney will be starting her third year of art studies.

CBC Family

When you pray for our church family, why not contact them – either phone call, sms, email etc – and let them know that they have been in your thoughts and prayers. This will be a great encouragement to all.

• Congratulations to Kay Davison who turns 100yrs old on Monday! She always displays such a positive love for Christ, and I find it such a joy to visit her. Her health is not good at the moment.
• Congratulations to Allan and Sue Burgess on the birth of their grandson, Jude. Their daughter in law Jo-Marie is still in hospital with infection and heart problems. Sue leaves today to go to them in the USA.
• Robert Dau has been in hospital with kidney problems.
• I have just heard that Jonathon Tudor’s father passed away suddenly 2 days ago. Jonathon is a regular member of Pulse and in grade 12. Please be in prayer for him, his mother and brother as well as Peter Landry as he ministers to them.
  Ursula Munnik asks for prayer. She is looking for alternate accommodation. She needs a 1/ 2  bedroom flat. If you hear of anything please contact her on 0839554173.
• Ian Wood-Calender is in Crescent Clinic.
• Annette Miller arrived home safely.
• Do be in prayer for Peter and Megan Landry as they consider where God is leading them next year.

CBC Ministries

• The church website is once again being kept up to date – do have a look at it and let me have your comments on it.
• We can praise the Lord for the super fellowship lunch we had last Sunday – a great crowd with great food and a great time had by all.
• There is a men’s hike tomorrow up in Kalk Bay mountains. They meet at the church at 6.50am. Contact Mike Cameron for details – 0827807399.
• There will be a Church quarterly meeting on 19th August at 7.30pm. This will be a very important meeting in which we will vote on a new Youth Pastor. The call committee has done its work and will be recommending to the church that we appoint Rob Swan to that position. At that meeting we will also be voting on an addition to the eldership. Please diarise this date! At this meeting we will also be voting on asking Sue le Roux to  join the eldership. Sue has a pastoral heart for the ladies in the church and can add a perspective on the church leadership that we don’t have at present.
• The Back to Church Sunday is on the 7th September. Please be in prayer for this – particularly for those whom you will be inviting.
• We do need someone to help Sheila and Brenda on the food distribution poverty relief ministry.

Denominational

Rev John and Elaine Broom recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Many thank the Lord for their ministry through the years – especially at Meadowridge Baptist.

Our Community

Pray for the Rosmead Primary school. Many of the learners come from informal settlements and travel in taxis to get to school. Pray for them and the teachers who have few of the resources that most schools in this area take for granted.
