Weekly Prayer Letter

I want everyone everywhere to lift innocent hands toward heaven and pray, without being angry or arguing with each other. - 1Timothy 2:8 

Missions

• Ed and Vivienne Moses will be back in Cape Town from the 30th July for just over 3 months. The write:

The 23rd of July 2014 marks the 7th anniversary of our entry into India.  We arrived in this vast subcontinent with two suitcases each  and with a sense of excitement and expectation. We had a vague idea of what was in store. We also had our own expectations and a preconceived mindset. Looking back over this 7 year period – we thank God for the way He has led us and continues to do so to this day. He closed some doors and He opened many more. He surprised us so often as He made the impossible possible and placed people and provided opportunities along our pathway. Our monthly updates have surely given you a clear picture of all that He has done to this day.

Thank you for standing with us over this 7 year period. In this mission to the LAST, the LEAST and the LOST – some have supported us financially, many prayerfully and others morally, practically and materially. Together you have enabled us to go forward in faith and to accomplish the purpose of God. We are deeply aware of our calling and responsibility in being ambassadors for Jesus Christ our Lord. A million thanks again to you for your fellowship, friendship and partnership in this work the Lord is doing.

• Sydney Davis and her team are in Dingle,  Ireland.  It seems Dingle has a bit of an artist enclave there. Pray that she and the mission team will have many opportunities to give a testimony to people.

CBC Family

When you pray for our church family, why not contact them – either phone call, sms, email etc – and let them know that they have been in your thoughts and prayers. This will be a great encouragement to all.

• Mrs Staples (Elaine Galliers mother) passed away early this morning. Please remember Elaine, Richard, Cat, Matt and the wider family in your prayers.

• Anita Rossouw is getting better but it will take a while to get her full energy back.
• Lee-Ann Teale is with her mother till end of July.  
• Pray for Murray and Candace as they settle down in their own home in the USA.
• Please do continue to pray for Eugene Nel. He is facing chemo therapy.
• Pray for CBC family who are overseas –Peter and Barbie Anderson (Canada). Ra Lennox (UK), Michael Fourie (Mediterranean)

CBC Ministries

• Please pray for the call committee as we consider the position of Youth Pastor for 2015 and beyond. The 3rd  meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 29th July.
• Pray for our Sunday school and all the teachers – Anthony Teale, Val Brassler, Loretta Daniels, Lorna Bucklow,  Rob Swan, Megan Landry, Gail Davis, Tarryn Joubert, Melissa Rosouw.
• We do need someone to help Sheila and Brenda on the food distribution poverty relief ministry.

Denominational

• The BU President and Missions Developer will be leading a team of pastors to minister in churches of the Nairobi Baptist Association, Kenya from 6-11 August. The team will also be conducting a two-day seminar for pastors and be involved in an evening evangelistic rally at the Baptist Chapel, Nairobi. Pray for this mission.
• Baptist World Alliance: Congratulations to Rev Paul Msiza (Baptist Convention of SA) who was elected as President of the Baptist World Alliance during the annual gathering held in Turkey from 6-12 July. He will take up office at the conclusion of the 21st  Baptist World Alliance Congress in Durban in July 2015, succeeding John Upton of the United States. He is the second African and first South African to be elected to the BWA presidency!

Our Community

Please begin praying for the Back to Church Sunday on 7 September. The churches of Claremont are inviting Claremont residents to come to church on that day – particularly those who never attend or who used to and no longer do. Lets join all the congregations of Claremont to pray for many to come and hear the word of God and accept Christ as Lord and Saviour. Also pray for the advertising and all the organizing.

Sunday 27 July

• 9.30 am. “Priorities from Timothy – The role of men and women in the church!” Peter Smallbones will be preaching from 1 Tim 2:8-15.
  
• 6.00pm. Things every Christian should know. ‘How can I share my faith?’ Corina Spinazzola will be the preacher.
