Weekly Prayer Letter

First of all, I encourage you to make petitions, prayers, intercessions, and prayers of thanks for all people, for rulers, and for everyone who has authority over us. Pray for these people so that we can have a quiet and peaceful life always lived in a godly and reverent way. -1Timothy 2:1,2

Missions

• Richard and Geraldine Akers write about their latest trip to reach the Zionist churches in Mozambique: 
  

“We were back in Maputo where about 45 Church leaders gathered to be taught from God's Word. We're taking them through a series of lessons on the FAMILY and 'How to raise Godly Children'. TYPICALLY in Mocambique, children go quite regularly to Church - until about the age of 14 or 15......and then they DISAPPEAR ! The next 'major age block' in Churches are those older than 50 ! What has happened to that generation ? Well we know that the civil war in Mocambique had a lot to do with that. We know that life is hard in Mocambique and 'just to survive' takes a lot of effort, but sadly, many Churches 'just presume' that most 14 - 50 year olds are 'not interested', and VERY LITTLE IS DONE to truly DISCIPLE Children and so that 'generation' is often overlooked.”

This is an important prayer need.

• Today, Sydney Davis has been doing training this week with the missions team in Ireland. They start next week going from village to village using art as a means to reach people for Christ.

CBC Family

When you pray for our church family, why not contact them – either phone call, sms, email etc – and let them know that they have been in your thoughts and prayers. This will be a great encouragement to all.

• Anita Rossouw has been very ill this week and the doctors have been struggling to find the cause. Please pray for her and also Rick and the girls. Anita needs to be well by Monday for her pre-school to open.
• Kay Davison is doing better this week.
• Lee-Ann Teale is with her mother till end of July.  
• Peter Collison has been unwell with flu.
• Michael Fourie is not in Aus as mentioned last week, but of course on board the cruise liner around the Mediterranean.
• Murray and Candace Crawford  leave for the USA  on the 23rd July. We will miss them but do pray that Murray soon finds a job.
• Emily Joubert travels home on Sunday from visiting her mother in the UK.
• Pray for CBC family who are overseas –Peter and Barbie Anderson (UK/USA). Ra Lennox UK), Emily Joubert (UK.), Michael Fourie (Mediterranean)

CBC Ministries

• Please pray for the call committee as we consider the position of Youth Pastor for 2015 and beyond. The 3rd  meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 29th July.
• Pray for the start up of all the regular church ministries after the holidays.
• We do need someone to help Sheila and Brenda on the food distribution poverty relief ministry.

Denominational

The Lower Crossroads Baptist Church, which is a new church plant has grown remarkably in the last 2/3 years and are now building a church building. They do need financial help to finish this project. Please pray with them as God has been blessing them amazingly.

Our Community

Pray for our leaders especially the Mayor, Ms. De Lille and her council – especially as they need to do so much to help the poor of our city.

Sunday 20 July

• 9.30 am. “Priorities from Timothy” – The priority of prayer for those outside the church. Peter Smallbones will be preaching from 1 Tim 2:1-8. This will be a communion service.
  6.00pm.  “The problem of evil: How can an all loving God allow bad things happen to ‘good’ people?” Peter Landry will be the preacher.
