Weekly Prayer Letter

Jesus answered him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one goes to the Father except by me. - John 14:6

Following our 40 days of growth here is a check list:

1. Are you continuing a regular personal devotion time – reading the bible and praying?
2. Are you continuing at a cell group?
3. Are you putting into practice the challenges that came to you from Ephesians?
4. Are you sharing what you have learnt with others?

Missions

• Ben Smith is in Rooiwal. They have completed about 50% of the building project but need to buy more metal roof sheeting in Cape Town. He reports that they have had good prayer meetings and he hopes to return within 14 days to complete the building and do further ministry.
• Ed and Vivienne Moses writes: 

Our ministry continues to know the blessing of the Lord. The prayer movement is gaining momentum as we trust God for renewal, revival and restoration. A dedicated group of people continues to meet in our home every Thursday evening as we intercede for the salvation of men and women and for a host of other requests.  From time to time the Lord surprises us with some tangible answers to prayer. One of our favorite slogans is this : “ When we go to pray, God goes to work. “ During Easter some special meetings were held. It culminated with a Sunrise service at 6 am on our rooftop in the village where we live. This is a significant breakthrough.  …..  Our vision however is to see the church emerge in this locality. At present there is no other Christian witness.  Please join us in praying for breakthroughs in this regard. Our ministry in the area where we are seeking to plant the Gospel – is gaining momentum. Bridges continue to be built and relationships strengthened as we trust Him. We believe that the Lord is going to surprise us one day with the harvest He is going to bring forth. That village is being  saturated with prayer and we believe that day is going to come.  Join us in praying for light to come where there is darkness and for life to come where there is death.

CBC Family

When you pray for our church family, why not contact them – either phone call, sms, email etc – and let them know that they have been in your thoughts and prayers. This will be a great encouragement to all.

• Eugene Nel is recovering well from his operation. He is thankful that all went well and will be going home on Monday for a while before starting further treatment.
• Lee-Ann Teale is with her mother in Upington. There are still many arrangements to make. Please continue to pray for her and the family. 
• We say farewell to Michael Fourie this week. On Thursday he leaves for Australia with his band where they will be playing on a cruise ship for 10 weeks. They are still awaiting their Australian visas and as they leave in a week, this is an anxious time for the group. Do pray for Mike and his band.
• Peter and Megan Landry are having a 2 week break and are visiting Megan’s father in Limpopo.
• Murray Crawford  will be having his interview for his spousal visa with the US on 10 July. He is grateful that his medical examination went well. Candace arrives in Johannesburg this week and Murray will meet her there and they will together have the interview. Pease pray for them.
• Peter and Maggie will be in Jo’burg this week end visiting David.
• Pray for CBC family who are overseas –Peter and Barbie Anderson (UK/USA). Ra Lennox UK), Emily Joubert leaves today for 2 weeks with her mother in the UK.

CBC Ministries

Please pray for the call committee as we consider the position of Youth Pastor for 2015 and beyond. We had our first meeting on Tuesday this week and the 2nd meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 15th.

Denominational

The Western Province Baptist Association’s director – Rev Clive Jacobs writes:

As we reach the halfway mark of 2014, I look back over the past six months with gratitude. The WPBA is blessed with a wonderfully diverse family, an infrastructure that works, and a unique ethos. These factors make us who and what we are as an Association. Let us continue to work together as we support one another. Always on my heart is the support of our Church Planters, as we commit to continue helping them plant new churches. Also we need to address the social needs of our communities, ministering to the whole person. Let’s continue to build together upon our solid foundation.

Our Community

Sunday 7th September is the day we are inviting Claremont back to church. At our Pastors’ meeting yesterday, there was a real sense of excitement and unity as all the churches work together to plan this event. If you want to be part of the team at CBC that plans this, please get hold of Rob Swan.

  6.00pm.   Ronnie Davis will be preaching – his focus is the question “Is Christ the only way?” This is the start of a new series in the evening that deals with questions people ask.
