Missions and Evangelism

Back To Church Sunday – 1 September

Let's pray that we will be welcoming to visitors, that the Spirit of God would touch many lives this Sunday – morning and evening.

The leaflets have been handed out to all Claremont residents – about 8000 homes have received them.

Pray that this “Spring day” will be the start of a spiritual revival in Claremont and surrounds. The theme in the morning service will be “The triumph of faith!” In the evening the theme is “Hope for the Hopeless!”
Pray for those you have invited to come.
Peter have invited the commanding Officer of the Claremont Police Station to attend the service along with any of the men and women under his command. Unfortunately Colonel Josephs is unavailable but he will send along 2 of his men. We will have a special time of prayer for them in the service
The offering that Sunday from all the churches will be given towards the Rosmead Primary school – amongst many needs they need a fridge/freezer to assist them with the feeding of 200 children everyday as well as the refurbishing of the toilet facilities for the children which are in a shocking condition.

Rooiwal

Do continue to pray for Martha and the family as they mourn the loss of Leonardo.
Pray for those men who will be preaching each Sunday and ministering to the community.

Missionaries

Selwyn and Phyllis Kettles write:

We thank the Lord for all who pray for us and the Church for their financial contributions from time to time - It always comes at the right time.The Lord enables us to continue with the Prayer and Evangelism Centre as well as with 4 Bible Studies, each in a different section of the prison, each week. There are of course also personal interviews with some of the men. I enjoy the men in the different classes. It is wonderful to see them grow in Grace/ When released the locals visit the Prayer room and this enables us to help further their Spiritual Growth. God is very gracious to us in every way for which we are deeply grateful.

Ed Moses writes:

In recent weeks our village and the surrounding villages has been rocked by a gang going on a killing spree. Life has become dangerous in an otherwise peaceful environment. This gang is not bent on stealing but killing. It’s a very strange phenomenon. There is a spirit of death at work and we have mobilized specific prayer to counter it. Please pray for our safety and security in the face of this new threat to life. The men ( and some women ) of our village have organized night patrols and this is giving us some protection.
They are also planning a time of prayer – including a prayer walk – as there has also been a number of suicides in their village.

Murray and Candace Crawford are now at on holiday until October in Tristan da Cunha. On their return they will be going to the USA and are unsure of where they will be serving God next. They write:

Thanks so much for your continued support to us as we have served on the mission field with Mercy Ships in West Africa and at Zithulele. It goes without saying that we could not have served in these places without your prayer and financial support, and for this we are very thankful. God has been so faithful and we feel very blessed! Their prayer requests are as follows: (1) We are still waiting to hear from the USCIS regarding our application. We are hoping to hear that we have moved on to the next step by the time we return to South Africa in October. (2) Murray has both his unabridged birth certificate and police clearance certificate. This is a huge answer to prayer! We now have all our papers in order for when we are given the go-ahead for Round Two of the visa process. (3) We will not be extending Candace's relative's permit. It will expire while we are out of country at Tristan, and so her passport should be stamped back into the country on a normal 90 day visitor's permit.

Church People and Ministries

People

Emily Joubert, Thorhild Wood-Calander and Gail Davis all ask for prayer for their fathers who are seriously ill.
Hamu Passoh is thankful for the prayers for her sister. She writes:

“Thank you so much for you prayers. Beverly is now out of hospital she was discharged yesterday morning. I am for ever grateful for your prayers in this confusing time. Baby is fine and has gained so much weight in the absence of mom. GOD is so great. Thank you soooo very much for everything. Our GOD is able, and he has just done it for us.”

Jack Cooper asks for prayer. He needs a garage or outside room to work from. He has a small business doing maintenance work and needs more space. Please pray and if you can help or can suggest somewhere please contact him on 0847768873.
Matt Lennox is still looking for a job. He is a Helicopter pilot.

Ministry

We give thanks for the wonderful weekend that the young people had – the girls in Hermanus and the Boys here at the church. They all seemed to have a time of blessing.
We are needing people to help with our poverty relief programme. This includes the food and clothing distribution. We need a group of people who feel called by God to help develop this ministry – includes planning, buying, packaging and distribution of food, sorting out clothing and its distribution. Please pray and ask the Lord if you should be involved in this. Sheila and Brenda are wanting to retire at the end of the year.
The Elders will be meeting this Tuesday evening.
