Weekly Prayer Letter

"Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. - Matthew 11:28 

We have just passed Ash Wednesday which introduces the season of Lent which encourages us to prepare for the Easter celebration. Our challenge to everyone is not so much “what are you giving up for Lent?” Rather it is “To whom can I bring hope?” Every Sunday morning our service will have the theme “Hope Changes Everything – In Christ there is always hope!”

This Sunday the theme is “Hope when life gets too much!”

Readings for this week’s meditation: Matthew 11:28-30; Psalm 116; Luke 18:1-8

Missions

• Ben Smith left yesterday afternoon for Rooiwal. We praise the Lord for an anonymous donation of R3000 that made this trip possible. He hopes to spend a week to ten days there
• The Rondebosch/Rustenburg CU camp 2 weeks ago was a wonderful time of ministry into the lives of many young people end.
• Ed Moses latest news letter is here! He is thankful for signs of the Lord’s work in the village where he is working. He had the first cottage meeting there and people are showing an interest in Christ. This is the only Christian witness in the village.

CBC Family

• Peter and Megan will be leaving next week for their wedding in Limpopo. Do be in prayer for them.
  Continue to pray for Loretta Danies (recovering from a bad fall) and  Matt Lennox (needs employment)
• Virginia Michaels hearing is now improving – Praise the Lord!
• Michael Fourie had his Nissan bakkie stolen while attending the young adult cell group at the Davis home on Wednesday evening.
• Pray for CBC family who are overseas – Rachael Beukes (N Zealand)

CBC Ministries

• The church family picnic at Sea Forth was a super time of fun and fellowship.
• The women’s world day of prayer is at CBC this morning.
• The church AGM is on Wednesday 25th March. Please make every effort to be there. We will have the opportunity of electing new Trustees and Elders. Please be in prayer concerning any nominations – every church member has the right to nominate.
• There is a new notice board in the foyer titled “Service opportunities.” Please look and see if there are any opportunities that you feel God is calling you into.
• The next Prayer Supper takes place on Tuesday evening 11th March. This is always an enriching time of prayer and friendship together.

Denominational

• We praise the Lord that the BU ended the year with a financial surplus after there were concerns that we would be in a severe deficit.
• The Baptist Union Executive hold their meetings next week at the Athlone Baptist church. We have been asked to serve a meal on Thursday evening – if you can help please speak to Sue le Roux.

Our Community

• Pray for the children of our community. Pray particularly that all children on our area will have the opportunity to hear the gospel and receive Christ.
  

Sunday 9 March
