Hi All, Well, since we last wrote Candace and Murray are back safely in Cape Town after an amazing time on Tristan da Cunha. We were able to visit one of the outlying islands, Nightingale Island, and see Atlantic yellow-nosed albatrosses sitting on their nests! We also saw a colony of Rockhopper penguins and seals too. We didn't get to climb to the peak of Tristan though - but I guess we have to leave something for another visit! We left Tristan on the 4th of October, and had an eventful voyage back to Cape Town. A lady on board fell ill with appendicitis and had to have an emergency surgery on board. Candace was kept busy for most of the sail in a nursing role, which she loved. The patient has had a full recovery and was very thankful to the team on board the ship, including Candace. We sailed into Table Bay Harbour in Cape Town on the 9th of October.
Upon clearing immigration, Candace was given a 30-day entry permit. We did have the option of extending it, but we decided to fly Candace back to Indiana to look for a nursing job back home and to be home for Thanksgiving - the first time in three years. Candace is unable to work here in South Africa. Murray will hopefully be able to join her in the new year, and we're praying that it will be sooner than that. Please keep us in your prayers as we go through another difficult transition of saying goodbye for a time. It will be tough to be apart but we trust that God is in control. If anyone in Cape Town knows of a short-term job that Murray could do while he waits, please send us an e-mail too. Please also continue to pray for our US visa paperwork. Many thanks and God bless! Much love, Murray and Candace

Murray and Candace Crawford
Murray joined the Africa Mercy 3 years ago - first for one year and then for a longer term. This has enabled him to fulfill two of his desires - to make Jesus known to those in need and to be at sea on board ship. He loves servicing Christ. On 4 March 2012 he married Candace Miller whom he met on board and they will continue to serve the Lord together. Archives
