With summer in full swing here in India and with temperatures soaring to new heights - we are becoming familiar with the following headlines :" Killer heat claims more than 520 lives in Andhra Pradesh " - " Heat wave grips north India " - " No respite from the killer heat. " Yesterday it was reported on TV that 192 people died in Andhra Pradesh due to the killer heat. Imagine 192 on one day !!! We are struggling to come to terms with the intense heat and the accompanying humidity at present. Our only respite is the fact that winter is only 5 months away !! Please pray for grace from on high to help us cope and persevere in the circumstances in which we find ourselves in at present. Pray that God will keep my heart in good shape ( given the fact that I have 5 stents ). We are taking the necessary precautions - but sometimes over enthusiasm gets the better of us - and it can have devastating consequences. Vivienne struggled with high blood pressure problems last summer - and we are hoping it will not recur this year. So please pray for her. She is being closely monitored by a specialist here.
Our ministry continues with our home fellowships - despite the heat. It is good to see how God is bringing things together. In small but significant ways He is going about shaping, challenging and guiding. We have a faithful band of prayer warriors who are keen on seeing the kingdom of God come in the lives of men and women here. Please pray for us on Friday 1st June. We have been invited to a home in the village where we are seeking to plant the Gospel. The couple have been blessed with a baby boy who was born on the 17th March. They also have two girls. We have been invited to dinner in their home and I have been asked to give the boy a Christian ( Biblical ) name. We will also dedicate the boy to the Lord. Pray that this boy will symbolise a new beginning in his family and in the village at large. In our pioneering work in this village - this is quite significant. David Livingstone - the well known missionary to Africa was one of the men God used to open up Africa to the Gospel. Yet it is believed that he only ever led one man , Chief Sechele to Jesus. He sowed in tears but firmly believed that those after him would reap the harvest. While reading this recently we have been greatly encouraged. We are working with small numbers of people and at times we begin to wonder if what we are doing is going to count. Pioneering work is not without it's discouragements - but as we think of David Livingstone and his faithfulness and committment to Jesus and His cause - we take heart. The Lord has led us to pray for our village work in the following way : Father :
Thank you again for your prayers and your support. Together we can overcome and together we will see the nations turn. Stay connected to Jesus - as our survival ( and revival ) becomes real as we abide in Him ( John 15 ) May God richly bless you. Write to us when you have some time. We would love to hear from you. Keep looking up !!!! With warmest Christian greetings Ed & Vivienne Moses
