BECOMING PASSIONATE FOLLOWERS OF CHRIST
"Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you." (Matthew 28:19-20 "The Message")
These immortal words of the Lord, Jesus Christ, are blazoned across the pages of history as the enduring mission of the church. We have captured this command of our Lord as the vision of our church in the following way:
We seek to make contact in meaningful ways with our community to show them the love of Christ and to reach them with the liberating Gospel of free grace. As that contact grows it is our prayer that many will begin to attend our worship services as they become aware of God and His awesome presence. Those who come as our guests are contacted by letter, sent from the church office and soon afterwards a visitor will call, bringing a welcome card and a packet of rusks as our welcome gift.
As guests become more regular, they are encouraged to become part of a Ministry Group that could meet their needs and a Discipleship Group to help them meet people and to share in the study of God's Word.
Those who respond to the claims of Christ on their lives are encouraged to be baptized as believers, as Christ commanded, and to commit themselves to the fellowship of the church through membership.
That begins the exciting journey of discovering the natural and spiritual gifts that God blesses them with and becoming equipped for service and to spread the wonderful news of the Gospel to others in turn.
There are four natural steps of commitment along this journey:
