About CBC
We Love Jesus
The family of Claremont Baptist Church is committed to:
- Developing a worshiping community that is Bible-based and in which the caring, saving and healing love of Christ can be demonstrated and shared.
- Reaching out to our community and beyond and make disciples of all people.
- Bringing the love of Christ into relationships, particularly family relationships. We recognise that not everyone lives with their family and we also want them to feel warmly welcomed into our church family. We see the church as the caring family of God, where the hurting can find the love and healing grace of Christ, be strengthened in their faith and where broken relationships can be restored.
- Fulfilling our special responsibility to pass on the message of Christ to children. We aim to be a children-inclusive church, drawing on members of all ages.
Recent Focus
Recently, we have been serving our Lord and our community with an additional emphasis on children and families. The guiding principle behind this change has been "to reach unchurched young families in our community with the gospel and equipping them to become disciples of Christ."
Recognising that the family plays the biggest role in determining the spiritual growth of children, our goal is to see families worshiping God and parents equipped to bring their children up to be disciples of Christ. In order to achieve this, we have begun building up our youth and children's ministry. We have appointed Tadala Longwe as our youth worker with the guidance of Jade and Timothy Paries, a married couple in our congregation, and also other church members to run Sunday Schools. Further ministries are being added to achieve our goal.
During this time we have also embarked on a path of renewal. Having experienced a few lean years, we believed that God was calling us to look critically at our lives and our actions and refresh our focus on Him. This includes a call to personal renewal in the life of the congregation, as well as renewing every aspect of church life. Under the Lordship of Christ, we have maintained a church that is relevant, filled with His Spirit, displays His love for one everyone and impacts the community around with His message.
